Nice pretty and diverse walk , just the right length for a child about one hour each way with the big reward reaching the Karloo pool for a nice swim and picnic. You can sit in the waterfall for a natural "spa". The walk is rated as hard because the path is uneven with steep climbs and descents over rocky uneven terrain. It is not very challenging but can be very slippery in wet weather.

Easy to park near by, big sign on the beginning of the trail with info - distance, etc., medium level difficulty, make sure to wear appropriate shoes and take water. The pool looks great, perfect for a swim on a warm summer day (as it was a warm winter day we didn't go in 😄).

A great hike. Not busy on a weekday but packed on the weekends. It's a good track on the way to the pools and on to the falls, slightly challenging for a beginner with good views and wildlife. The pools and waterfall are great break spots. The hike out from the falls is on fire trail and isn't remarkable but it's easy and quick. Plan on spending 3 hours doing the full 12K including breaks.

Medium decent walk track, to Karloo Pool. Worth the effort once you reach the pool for a dip. After that a return trip back up the same route.

Beautiful walk in the bush. Even moreso during flowering times. Path is natural terrain with no handholds or stairs. Descent down to pools can be hard on the knees and ankles with loose rocks and exposed tree roots, and the path and can be slippery at times during wet weather, mainly up at the sloping rocks you traverse near the crest of the ridge (halfway). The entry point from Heathcote side is not terribly clear either (there is a signpost by the road but you have to traverse a little way in ignoring other paths before it actually starts), but should be easy to work out. That all being said, it's quiet and lovely as bushwalks go, with occassional canopy coverage and side-openings to facilitate shelter from the sun and water breaks. The pools are perfect for a swim during hot weather, too Weekends see a bit of traffic, but if you can get in early, you should barely see a soul. No buildings in sight or sounds of traffic btw, which makes this walk a favourite of mine ✌🏼

Definitely a slightly challenging walk, but, well worth the effort. Recommended for couples, groups of friends, small families (kids who can ideally walk already). Not recommended for wheelchairs, older folk with walking issues, or for taking your mother-in-law on (unless you get on well with each other). The pools at the end are delightful, so get your good shoes on and get walking!!

Kids and most adults can do this walk... There was one or two spots that might be difficult for those with unsteady legs or seniors.... Best to wear shoes that have grip..... I slipped a few times . The water pool was an absolute treat for half way mark.. also was warm which was super pleasant.

The walk back to the train station from the pools was quite steep. A good workout, but plenty of gorgeous views.
